Introduction

Software Engineer turned AI Automation Architect

Hey 👋 I'm Bart. I started out like most engineers — knee-deep in code, chasing the next feature, the next launch, the next “big thing.” It was exciting. It was messy. It was a crash course in how the real world works.

Over 15 years, I moved from writing lines of JavaScript in small startups… to architecting systems for Adidas Japan's $196M e-commerce platform… to leading engineering for Toyota's $10B Woven City project.

With each step, I saw the same pattern: the code was important, but it wasn't the whole picture. The real win came from fixing how things worked — the process, the communication, the automation behind the scenes.
That's what pulled me toward AI and automation. Not the hype, but the leverage.

The ability to replace repetitive work with systems that run 24/7 without coffee breaks. The power to connect data, tools, and teams so things just… flow.

Today, I use that mix of engineering depth and product vision to design AI-driven solutions that save companies time, cut costs, and make teams more effective.

Because in the end, my job isn't to build more software.

It's to make your business run like it should have all along.

If it matters, I’ll figure it out and make it happen

I’ve worn a lot of hats — and not just the developer kind. I’ve led teams, published research, built products, and grown communities from scratch. When NASA opened the floor to new ideas, I co-authored a paper on the Conceptual Design of an Amphibious Tiltrotor for Rescue Operations. It was published in the scientific journal — a project that combined engineering, research, and a love for pushing boundaries.

I’m PMP® certified, which means I can run projects as well as I can code them. I’m fluent in the art of translating between technical and non-technical worlds, making sure ideas survive the handoff.

I’ve worked across disciplines, industries, and cultures, adapting my approach to people and problems.
Outside the office, I’ve built aerospace networks with over 10,000 members, connecting engineers, enthusiasts, and industry experts across the globe. I also founded Instatripa travel-photo mapping startup that turned Instagram posts into shareable trip maps. It was even used by then-President of Costa Rica, Laura Chinchilla, to chart her official travels.

My work and tools have been featured in Computerworld, Softpedia, Smashing Magazine, and even made the front page of Hacker News. This mix of technical depth, leadership, and community-building means I can operate at every level — from big-picture strategy to the code that makes it real.

It’s all part of the same goal: delivering work that matters.

Experience

From Sony Music to Woven City. You are in good company.

My career has taken me from designing websites for Grammy-winning artists to leading engineering for one of the most ambitious smart city projects in the world.

I cut my teeth building online platforms for Sony Music, EMI, and Columbia Records — crafting official sites for Katy Perry, Foster the People, Tinie Tempah, and others. These were high-profile, high-traffic launches where deadlines weren’t suggestions — they were law. It taught me how to deliver under pressure, and how to design systems that could handle the spotlight.

From there, I shifted into the world of startups and scale-ups in Tokyo. I worked on e-commerce systems, SaaS platforms, and data-heavy applications, taking on everything from front-end polish to deep backend architecture.
That path led me to Adidas Japan, where I helped scale a $196M e-commerce operation — improving conversion rates, cutting infrastructure costs, and streamlining development so new features shipped faster.

Then came Toyota's Woven City — a $10B vision for the city of the future. I led a six-person engineering team, built systems from scratch, and established the technical foundation for tools and services used across the project.

Every step along the way, the thread has been the same: solving real problems with technology that works. Whether it's a global music label, a sportswear giant, or a city of the future, my focus has been on delivering solutions that last.

And if we work together, yours will too.
